Second Time’s the Charm: Successful Silverdome Implosion

A day after the failed attempt to implode the Pontiac Silverdome stadium, the historic building came down successfully. Crews determined a wiring issue was the cause of the previous failure, and chose to load the beams with double the amount of explosives for good measure this time. This implosion was only intended to bring down the upper level, not the entire stadium. The remainder of the stadium will be demolished over the next 9 to 12 months.
