In Hot Springs, Arkansas
DT familiarized themselves with this project over several years- having prepared numerous budgetary proposals to various property owners since 2008 for the demolition of the nine-story structure located in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas.
The 150,000 SF structure sat at the conjunction of Cedar, Whittington, Park Ave. and major state highway 7. The tallest sections of the structure were bordered by a city sidewalk, separating the structure from automobile and pedestrian traffic by approximately eight feet. The nine-story tower and adjoining structure was constructed of poured in place concrete slabs and structural steel with masonry veneer. A parking garage constructed of concrete columns and decking was arranged under the tower. A three-story hotel, constructed of concrete columns and shear walls, was then tied into the tower.
In July of 2016, DT was awarded the contract for the RFP to the City of Hot Springs for asbestos abatement and demolition of the entire structure. The project included milestone dates for commencement, progress and completion; all of which were met by DT. The project was successfully completed in November of 2016.
